Final Reflections

Hello everyone! As my blogging journey come to a close, I would like to take this last blog post as a chance to reflect on what I have learned thus far.

Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, I had grown interested in how it has affected our daily lives and how it has redefined the norms. As such, I was very excited to embark on this blogging journey and explore how the different types of pollution have changed during this period. Here are my top 3 key takeaways from my blogging journey:

There is potential for us to reduce pollution and improve the quality of our environment.

One thing that stood out to me, especially at the beginning of this pandemic, was the recovery of our ecosystems, albeit short-lived. It demonstrates the potential of our ecosystems to recover if we adopt a more sustainable form of development. However, this should not be used as an excuse to continue with business-as-usual, in hopes that the environment will recover naturally. Instead, this should be used as an incentive to encourage everyone to push for stronger action, especially after taking a glimpse of what the outcomes might be.

The consequences of pandemics are hardly evenly distributed

Prior to this blogging journey, it was easy for me to remain in my echo chamber. However, after learning about how the pandemic has impacted other communities in other parts of the world, it was apparent to me that I have consistently been in a position of privilege. Hence, I felt that it is important to acknowledge these disparities so that we can better help these communities moving forward.

Bounce back up like a cheese ball!

As I was researching this topic, I often found it disheartening that many of our efforts to reduce pollution and protect our ecosystems have been halted or even reversed. The COVID-19 pandemic has definitely been a setback for many environmental efforts. However, it is important that we pick up from where we left off and continue to progress forward. The pandemic is also a good opportunity to reposition ourselves onto a more sustainable path of development.

I hope you enjoyed reading my blog as much as I enjoyed writing it. Till next time!
