One of the Most Valuable Skills Education Teaches Is Writing

1_vjE6Fq1-8lWxrgWKKpc_TA

Education is one of the greatest gifts that any given individual around the globe can ever hope to be given in their lifetime. Anyone who has ever experienced the challenges and rewards of education knows this all too well. Education is an industry that functions and thrives on the tail of the understanding that the influence and the power of education is all about working towards becoming better, more informed versions of our former selves. Through academic, intellectual, and even personal enlightenment, there is a lot to be said about the tremendous room for potential that comes with educating oneself and actively and consistently committing to that education.

Recognising the many advantages in education

There are many challenges that come hand in hand with education, however there are also many advantages as well. In most cases (and for the most part), these advantages significantly outweigh the challenges. There are many valuable skills that are taught through education. Each of them of course has its own advantages, benefits, and merits, however there are some that are more wholly valuable than others. There are many advantages in education, with one of the biggest and best of those advantages being that education gives individuals the means and opportunity to better themselves, educating themselves on the world and how they and others experience it on the daily.

Understanding that writing is one of the most valuable skills

Without a doubt, one of the most valuable skills that education teaches is writing. Whether it is learning to write a letter to principal or expanding on your writing skills to become a writer one day (to name a few examples), being able to write is a valuable skill that is used most often. In fact, the more we dive into the digital era, and the more time that we spend online, the more valuable sound (and even – and especially – exceptional) writing skills are. You never know when you are going to have to submit a resume or cover letter for a dream job, or write an OP-ED on an important topic that you are passionate about (again, to name a few examples). Most importantly, of course, is the fact that writing is the written expression of the self. And you should always make a point to know your voice.

How writing is a lifelong skill set

At the end of the day, writing is a lifelong skill set because it is so often used throughout one’s life. Even the most basic of writing skills can make a world of difference when it comes to the ease and efficiency of your self expression and the opportunities that you carve out for yourself. It never hurts to be a great writer and given that we write so often in our daily lives (even if just on one’s phone or iPad, or even in their old school journal), being comfortable and familiar with your voice in written form is an incredible asset.

Investing in Economics Tutoring Before Entering University

photo-1554415707-6e8cfc93fe23

The field of economics is one of the most intricate fields of study and work that there is. This is a field that makes up one of the most competitive and important industries in the world. Defined as “the branch of knowledge concerned with the production, consumption, and transfer of wealth”, economics is a field of interest that is consistently performing at a high capacity practically all the time. Economies obviously around the globe function and thrive around economics models. That is the power of economics. Economics is also a field that is instrumental to the way of the world.

This means that economics is a career field that is always going to be in motion, which means consistent opportunities and need for professionals with the academic and intellectual knowledge and experience in the field. And even better, individuals do not necessarily have to wait until they enrol at a university to kickstart their industry awareness and knowledge. There are so many different ways to approach learning more about economics, and each of them have their own advantages and merits.

The Power of Investing in Yourself

This is why more individuals than ever are applying and enrolling in university programs that are centred around economics studies as well as programs that are designed and intended to be taken before an individual even enrols in a university degree. There is a lot to be said about taking it upon oneself to learn before it becomes a compulsory practice through university. This is when the passion behind the drive to learn is often at its highest and this is how, where, and why so many will-be students make it a point to invest in themselves and their economics trajectory even (and often especially) before university starts.

The Role of Economics Tutoring

Investing in quality professional econs tuition is all about taking the power into your own hands and working with that power to essentially create a foundational basis of understanding in the field of economics that can, over time, be built on even further to create a multi-faceted approach to economics. Economics tutoring is all about giving you the materials and tools you need to function and thrive, well ahead of you actually needing them. This approach to learning is fantastic because it means that you are ahead of the game before the game has even started.

The Advantage of Tutoring

At the end of the day, the biggest advantage of economics tutoring before university lies in preparedness. In applying for and thriving through economics tutoring from the onset (and even before that point), you are essentially giving yourself the means and the opportunity to become well versed in the basics of economics while also learning to brave the challenges that come hand in hand with studying, before you even enter university as a student for the first time. This is an advantage because it means you can find the approach to studying that works best for you and learn to execute it ahead of time.

Tips on Fundraising for Your Study Abroad Experience

fcd34567fa20e915aa567e877d64f607e34a58dd

Any country has its outstanding educational institutions, providing a high-level education to students. But more and more students dream of studying abroad instead of applying to a good local university. It’s not a bad tendency because any person should always strive for more. And with regard to education, this striving is justified by numerous advantages. First of all, you leave your comfort zone and learn how to live independently. You meet new people from a new culture; often you have to learn a new language.

If you decide to study abroad, be ready for new challenges. And be sure that these challenges will benefit your future. So, the first challenge is money, or even the lack of it. Studying for foreign students always means – fee-paying. If your family doesn’t have so much money to pay for it and tries to dissuade you from this idea, don’t give up. Set the goal and go to it. It’s possible to fundraise for the study by yourself. You don’t even need to ask your family for help. The following information will help you to get prepared for the international academic experience:

Crowdfunding

There are lots of сoncerned people who are ready to help another person, especially if he or she needs funding for serious reasons. Find the special service, get registered, and tell your story. We understand that writing heart-warming stories is an art, and not everyone can do it. But any professional paper writing service can help you with crafting this story.

Be sure that some of your friends or some other student will put yourself in your shoes and help. Don’t forget to update your page, tell more about your progress, and especially how the funds collected through the service helped you.

Grant Program

Many students who aim to get an education abroad want to apply to an American university or college. Although educational institutions in many other countries also offer various fundraising programs for foreign applicants. Write the strong application letter to prove that it’s you who is eligible to participate in this program. You should have a very strong motivation to stand out among hundreds of other applicants.

Save Money

Of course, it’s hard, but try to limit yourself to your dream. Perhaps, you can pay for one semester; it’s anyway better than nothing. You may hope that you move to the destination city, enter the college, and find a job to pay for your further studying. Get a job while you’re studying at school, so the saved sum of money will surely be higher.

Find a Cheap Course

Spend some time to find the information about the necessary courses and universities that offer them. Don’t apply to famous prestigious institutions because their fees are often too high. It’s possible to find a good university that offers the educational program you need at a lower cost.

Choose one tip or use all at once to define the most efficient way to save enough money. There’s nothing impossible for a motivated person.

What is distance learning?

distance learningdcv.jpg

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, people have had to adjust to a new way of doing things and education is just one of the many institutions forced to adapt. Social distancing laws across the world have forced educators to take lessons online with little notice or opportunity for planning — and it’s been a challenge. These challenges have highlighted the convenience and attractiveness of programs that are designed to be completed at home — distance learning, or distance education programs.

Distance learning programs differ from the traditional college model in that there is little to no on-campus requirement for the student. Today, distance learning courses are completed online using teleconferencing, video recording and online drop boxes for work.

There are three main categories that distance learning falls into: Synchronous distance learning; Asynchronous distance learning; and Hybrid distance learning.

Synchronous distance learning: As the name suggest, this type of distance learning happens live, and students attend lectures at the same time. This type of distance learning allows collaboration between classmates and teachers in real time and is communication driven.

This is the most common form of online education offered by traditional college institutions. Students still “attend” class and meet coursework deadlines as if they were on campus.

It’s also important to note that at many institutions there may still be some form of on-campus requirement. An MA distance learning program, for example may require a week of campus learning for group or project work.

Asynchronous distance learning: This type of learning does not require students to be learning at the same time. There may still be deadlines for work completion (strictness of deadlines varies by institution), but students access recordings of lectures and other materials on their own schedule and work at their own pace.

An international career forum is a source to learn more about asynchronous learning and how students who require a little more flexibility with their schedules or students with existing careers or families can benefit from this program.

Hybrid distance learning: This category of distance learning is a combination of the above categories. Students may still be required to attend scheduled lectures via teleconferencing, but work is completed on the student’s own time and at their pace.

We’re seeing a lot of this right now as educators work to adapt course material that was designed for in-classroom learning and move it online for students. This type of learning might also be used by institutions that lack space to accommodate large numbers of students enrolled in the program.

Distance learning as a model

Even before COVID-19 forced colleges to send students home, distance learning programs were gaining increasing popularity. A 2019 Forbes article reported that “students are increasingly turning to online courses because they have become a better way to learn.” And the biggest reason cited for online course popularity? Access. Access to peers, instructors and more frequent assessment.

Online courses just make sense for students who need an education option that comes to them, rather than requiring them to go to it. The Pandemic highlighted distance learning in the context of social distancing, but even outside of a pandemic, distance learning is an attractive option for many students.

Step-by-Step Guide to Critiquing Research Articles

photo-1554415707-6e8cfc93fe23.jpeg

Critique of a research article is an objective assessment of a scientific paper according to several criteria (the educational significance of the problem, the methods of investigation, the completeness of the content, etc.). A competent critique should contain your impressions of the article, supported by numerous facts. Thus, before analyzing research, the author should read it and prepare arguments. Only then one can write a clear and convincing text.

Why Critique of Research Articles is Important?

First, it allows you to identify the strengths and weaknesses of a scientific paper. You determine a sequence of the author’s actions, as well as assess the clarity of the offered results. Critical analysis of research papers teaches you to determine their place in the scientific community.

By the same logic, the critic can analyze their own work, being impartial and objective. Thus, if the students are able to critique literature adequately, they can identify and eliminate the weaknesses before the submission of their own academic papers. Today, a scientific world is overloaded with information, printed, and electronic publications. In a mass of information available, you need to find studies that have real scientific value.

Main Steps in Writing a Research Article Critique

Actually, a critique of a research article may be one of the most difficult academic assignments for students. The following step-by-step guide will explain how to critique an article easily.

1. Preliminary analysis of the research article.

At this stage, it is necessary to evaluate information about the author and the research topic. Most importantly, the critic should answer the following questions:

  • Who is the author of the article? Is the critic familiar with the author’s other works?
  • How relevant is the chosen topic? Who is the target audience of the material? Is the topic theoretical or applied (practical)? Does the critic need additional skills to understand the meaning of the article (terms, symbols, etc.)?
  • What is the purpose of the analyzed paper? What hypothesis has the author generated? Is it fully confirmed/disproved?

2. Review of your own views and beliefs.

Our worldview, previous knowledge, and bias affect the perception of information we receive. Ask yourself, what ideas about the researched topic do you already have? Can they influence your assessment of the article or the author’s position?

3. Preliminary assessment of the scientific material.

Here, you need to make a brief summary of the research article, which will reflect the following.

  • Assessment of the scientific problem (relevance, significance);
  • An innovative approach, uniqueness of the offered ideas;
  • Evaluation of the results.

4. A general critical analysis of the content.

You should express your opinion on how the research was conducted. Access how the results are presented and whether the arguments are logical. Both weak and strong sides of the author’s arguments must be evaluated. Besides, it’s significant to adduce facts in support of your opinion.

Preferably, use these points to make your research article critique comprehensive:

  • Compliance of the title with its content;
  • The objectives of the paper. Are the goal and objectives of the study clearly identified?
  • The adequacy of the chosen approach to the discussed problem;
  • The novelty of the ideas. Are the author’s arguments really new or are they rather a reconstruction of old ideas?
  • Logical coherence. Are the arguments and statements agreed with each other, or do any of them contradict or cancel each other?
  • Logical compliance of the initial statements with the conclusions;
  • How many facts are offered in support of his point of view; what types of facts? Did the author miss any important facts?
  • Reliability and relevance of the sources on which the arguments are based;
  • Are the examples and illustrations appropriate and relevant?
  • Research procedure. How clearly the author described the essence of the experimental work, how it was carried out; whether the chosen methods correspond to the tasks;
  • Discussion and conclusions. Whether the analysis of the results corresponds to the received data;
  • Compliance of the objectives with the conclusions made. Has the author fully attained the objectives set?
  • Does the author suggest future research opportunities?
  • Clarity, conciseness, and accuracy of the used scientific terminology.

5. The bias of the author.

Is there a possibility of bias in the research procedure and/or interpretation of the results? Does the author use emotions instead of looking at plain facts?

It is important for scientists to be able to restrain their own emotions and accurately reflect facts, objectively conduct analysis, and make competent conclusions based on evidence, instead of personal representations and impressions.

6. Description of scientific value.

Evaluate the significance of the conducted research for the scientific community. The contribution may be different, depending on the author’s goal. For example, a new view of the problem was introduced, different concepts were generalized and consolidated into a single theory. In some cases, new ways of solving scientific problem can be offered. This way, you can obtain new empirical results.

7. The influence of the article.

In order to determine the level of the impact of a research article on science development, consider the number and nature of citations. Analyze a list of all the referenced publications or links to the paper you are critiquing. For detailed analysis, review some of them (at least two or three). Determine what kinds of links were made, and briefly consider the influence of the original article on subsequent ones. If there are no links to the analyzed work, try to make assumptions about the reasons.

In Conclusion

Only extensive experience in analyzing numerous scientific texts will help scholars develop their own style and learn to express their thoughts within the necessary structure. Remember, when analyzing someone else’s text, do not perceive it as the ultimate truth, even if it is written by an experienced author. Developing the skill of critical thinking is one of the main goals of education, and is worthy of all your work and diligence.

More Valuable than Ever – Benefits of Higher Education

dgfhgyt67ju.jpg

For many people, the decision to go to university or college or not is one of the most difficult decisions that they will ever make. There are many moving pieces to consider. Not only does studying cost money, but it also takes a tremendous amount of time, patience, and mental capacity that is sometimes difficult (to say the least) to muster. If one does choose to go to university or college, they must then make the decision as to if they want to study a bachelor’s degree at a normal pace, opting to study either full time or part time for the duration of their studies.

Regardless of the individual’s final decision, the process to making a choice on the matter is, as mentioned, a difficult one. There are many benefits to higher education, but there are three specifically that ultimately end up being the big deciding factors for most individuals. What may come as a surprise, however, is that these three factors are ones that are not exactly incredibly potent in the decision-making process, but they are not always the obvious factors.

Improved self-esteem

Higher education degrees often prove to give students an increased sense of self-esteem. You may be surprised to know just how much of a confidence booster a degree can be for a person. Committing to university or college demands that the individual “grow up” in a sense, increasing their essay writing skills and time management. When one studies higher education, they become solely responsible for their academic success.

Unlike primary, middle, and high school, there is no one to hold your hand as you make your way through the system, and as a result you become entirely accountable for your circumstances – in every way imaginable. One of the results of this accountability is that the individual graduates with a stronger sense of self and a better connection to that sense of self.

Improved career trajectory

This point is not necessarily exclusive to studying a degree through higher education, but it is nonetheless incredibly relevant. The fact of the matter is that a more deliberate career quite often equals a greater sense of career satisfaction. Studying a degree in something that one genuinely loves leaves them feeling more fulfilled and committed to that field.

This is easy to grasp: working towards something one genuinely loves ultimately fuels them to work harder and faster towards their professional goals. And a career built on a foundation of passion and hard work is one that is scaled for success in the long term.

Improved health

Studies have shown that individuals that have obtained a degree through higher education are linked to better health statistics. The main reason for this is quite simple (and perhaps, to some, even obvious): individuals who obtain a degree of any kind through higher education often end up working in careers that are better able to finance any health concerns that come up.

Again, this is not necessarily exclusive to university or college graduates, but it is abundantly obvious as a benefit of higher education. As the saying goes, “do a job you love and you will never work a day in your life”. Having a job that you have deliberately worked towards and put so much effort and passion into more often than not leads to a greater sense of satisfaction in life overall.

Assignment Times Cut Down by Using a Few Key Resources

adult-blur-business-close-up-239548.jpg

Homework is a very important part of student life and regardless of the busy life, this work must be completed. Making sure that you submit your work in good quality and in within the set deadline is key to being successful in your academic endeavors. Sometimes, you can get caught up with other things only to realize that your homework assignment is due the following day and you need speedy paper to write. Instead of going into a panic mode, here are some of the ways you can use to address your situation:

Quickly Settle Down and Plan the Work

One reason why things don’t get done is the fact that we don’t plan for the assignment in front of us. When you find yourself in such a situation and need your homework done the soonest time possible, taking time to plan for it is a good effort. It would be better to take time to read through your notes and do the necessary research before working on it. This will help you handle the assignment from a well-informed point of view and save your time.

Use Sample Papers from Experts

Is your homework something you don’t have an idea of how to go about it? You may not have the time to learn on your own. How about getting a sample of the kind of assignment that you are required to do? As you go through this sample, you will gather ideas on how to approach your assignment and make the most use of it.

Work with an Outline

Prepare a list of the items that you need to be covered in your homework assignment. This will help you address every important point of your work and get to do it in an organized way. Quality homework assignments should capture in all important details in an organized manner that brings out meaning. With an outline, you will be able to write ideas that flow without getting stuck on the way.

Engage an online Tutor

Get online and look for someone to help you go through the homework step by step. List down important points concerning your assignment and apply them. Here, you can ask all sorts of questions that will help you draw important aspects concerning your assignment. Ensure that you have everything you need to do the assignment on your own. There are great tutoring services online that can help you prepare quality homework in a short while.

Get Help from an online Professional

Too tired to do anything? Well, the help of an online professional can help you complete your homework in a high-quality fashion. They provide 24/7 services that provide solutions of this nature. You won’t have to worry about quality or timely delivery because this is what these professionals do. Get online and choose someone who is trained and certified in your area of study. They will get you the answers you are looking for in superb quality.

Use Editing and Proofreading Services

Submitting original work is an important aspect of academics. Whichever way that you are going to use to get your assignment done, make sure it gets checked for originality and uniqueness. Over and above that, ensure that it is checked for correctness and grammar to ensure that it makes sense.

Final Thoughts

If you have just remembered an undone assignment during the night, you got a number of options to consider. Depending on the type of assignment, you can either do it yourself by having a good plan in place or just use online services and resources to get it done in good quality!

Preparing to Study in London: Top Tips

76119-640x360-luip-general-why-london.jpg

It’s official, London is the best place in the world to study.

Unsurprisingly, based on articles such as the above, there are always going to be a huge number of students who swarm there each and every year. It has the status, culture, size and everything that a student might desire.

At the same time, it’s a completely different beast in comparison to other student cities. For domestic students, studying in London is completely different to say Nottingham, as an example. Then, for international students (and there are a lot who take to the Big Smoke each and every year), there are clearly even more considerations.

Regardless of where you are coming from, let’s now jump into some top tips that can make it so much easier for you to settle into your London studies.

London is large: make your accommodation choice wisely

It doesn’t matter whether you are arriving from abroad or locally, your accommodation is going to be one of the biggest decisions you need to get right.

It’s not a newsflash, London is huge, and there are umpteen types of accommodation available. Furthermore, this accommodation is far from cheap, while there are stories each and every year of students ending up in box-like rooms.

If you have opted for official student accommodation, this shouldn’t be an issue. For everyone else the advice is simple; take your time. You might need to take advantage of storage units in the interim, but if this is what it takes to finding the right place to live then it will be completely worth it. Ask locals, ask estate agents and search high and low for the right place to live. Get this wrong, and you’ll live to regret it for at least the next twelve months.

The great study book trap

In truth, this next point can apply to any university, but bearing in mind the costs you already have to contend with in London, as well as the competition for textbooks, it can be argued it is even more important.

In short, try and buy your textbooks in advance. No, don’t turn to the official sources, but instead turn to eBay, Gumtree or any other source which lists second-hand versions. With some of these books retailing for hundreds of pounds, this can shave some significant sums from your costs.

An Oyster is a must, but there are caveats…

Let’s not get away from the fact that you will need to tap into London’s vast travel network, and an Oyster will help save you money in this regard.

However, there are caveats. The main point is not being lazy. Sure, this is a city with a great travel network, but sometimes it’s just as quick to walk between tube stations. You don’t always have to jump on the underground.

Understand the cultural differences

In those first few weeks before classes start, try and make it your aim to understand London culture.

This can apply to both international and domestic students, as the cultural differences in London can be vast.

For example, it can be as simple as restaurant times. If you reside abroad, you might be used to arriving at a place to eat well into the night, perhaps 11pm. Well, if you operate the same tactics in London, you’ll find yourself getting turned away a lot.

Then, there are shop opening hours. In many other parts of the UK, the high-street closes at 5pm. This is slightly later in London, but still not comparable to other world cities where the shopping hours go much later in the night.

Fostering a Love for English

correcting-1870721_1920

People often overlook language as a key component in education, assuming their children will pick it up along the way and not requiring any special concern. However, especially in a family that speaks more than one language, it is important to pay extra attention to your child’s grasp of language. Whether it is their first or second language, it is important to keep up with their development and carrying out their education accordingly. For instance, if your child shows more aptitude towards Chinese, it might be wise to put him or her in a Chinese school instead of an English school so that “their English might improve” – by doing so severely handicaps your child and might cause him or her to lose interest in the subjects as they are unable to comprehend what is going on in their science or mathematics class. Here are a few steps on how to properly help your child improve their English instead.

Teach them to love reading

One of the best and easiest ways you can help your child learn English is simply through reading. Since children follow by example, you should read novels or even magazines in front of them. When they see you reading, they will naturally follow. However, you can also read to them and this will also encourage them to pick up a book themselves.

Encourage them to write and indulge in their imagination

When you learn how to read, the next thing you should learn is how to write. Writing is a learned skill and writing well is not something that will come naturally when you acquire a new language. While reading will help in that aspect by giving you the experience of how sentences are strung together and how to make words flow, it is practice that will really help you take your language skills to the next level. That’s why it’s encouraged to enroll your children into creative writing classes primary school so that they can begin while they are still young and impressionable, but old enough to comprehend what they are doing.

Watch lots of television

One thing that reading won’t give you is the nuanced way in which a particular language is spoken with. It isn’t about accent, but the very basics of how a native speaker will say certain things in, therefore it’s important to tie your education with real-world experience. Especially if you are unable to find a community of native speakers where you live, what you can do to supplement and makeup for that lack is by watching television. When you watch movies, you discover how native speakers interact with one another, from their kind of humour to the words they choose to use – in the English language, there are so many words that mean the same thing with subtle differences, especially when used in different contexts and television can help you there. Of course, you shouldn’t limit yourself to just one type of programming, make sure you watch the news, documentaries and even entertainment news as well to get a better understanding of how and when to use certain words, inflection or just a method of talking.

6 Things Students Should Do to Avoid Feeling Overwhelmed with School

college_students.jpg

No matter what phase of life you’re in, stress is inevitable. When the pressure is on, and expectations aren’t being met, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. For many students, this is a common feeling. Between working, studying, and maintaining a social life, there’s a struggling to create a healthy balance. Even though stress is a factor in everyone’s lives, there are six things you can do to reduce feeling overwhelmed and stressed over school.

Create structured study schedules

No one enjoys studying, yet everyone has to study. Unless you’re someone who has a photographic memory, the odds are you need to study before exams and tests. Pulling all-nighters may work a couple of times, but when you have multiple exams coming up, creating a structured study schedule can help reduce stress and anxiety. Write down how long it’ll take you to complete an assignment, and when you should spend time studying.

Practice self-care

When you’re stressed, the last thing you’re thinking about is yourself. Instead, you’re focusing on the exam or project you have coming up. But, it’s important to take breaks in between study sessions. Studying for eight hours straight sounds effective, but it’s not. Taking healthy breaks to go for a walk or watch an episode of your favorite tv show will give you a break you need.

Avoid talking about how stressed you feel

You’re stressed, but talking about it isn’t going to make you feel any better. If anything, it’ll create additional stress and pressure, as now you’re focused on things you still need to do. Plus, no one else can help you, unless you purchase affordable essays. Other than that, you’re responsible for completing your work on time.

Find something interesting in the material you’re studying

Not all of us love learning about history or mathematics, and that’s what usually prevents us from doing well. If you’re not interested in what you’re learning, how can you learn it? But instead of dragging yourself through the course, find something interesting in what you’re learning. That way, you’ll be able to study without finding it painful.

Get enough sleep

Pulling an all-nighter isn’t the trick to reducing stress and anxiety. In reality, getting a proper eight hours of sleep will benefit you much more. Research has shown that not getting enough sleep impairs memory and reasoning abilities. If you get an adequate amount of sleep, you’ll be clear-headed and less stressed.

Ask for help when you need it

If you have a lot on your plate with school, ask for help. Sometimes we don’t understand what we’re learning, and rather than struggling with the material, ask someone to help you. It’ll save yourself a lot of time and unnecessary stress. Whether it’s a teacher or friend, don’t be shy to ask for a helping hand.

School is hard enough, but you don’t need to make it harder on yourself. Improve your mental health by using these methods to reduce stress and anxiety in your life.
