Dr. Lee is a Research Fellow at the Department of Mechanical Engineering in National University of Singapore. He is an expert in micro-cutting and micro-scratching of metal alloys and brittle ceramics with a specialty in characterizing damages involved during micro-deformation (i.e., plasticity and fracture occurrences). His research aims at challenging problems in ultra-precision machining and contributes to the process development for augmented machining across a wide range of materials. These include developing novel techniques for enhanced ductile mode micro-cutting of brittle optical materials, applied physics for the suppression of diamond tool wear in machining of ferrous materials, and characterization of additively manufactured metallurgy and machinability. He has amassed over 20 publications with over 400 citations to date. He presently serves as an International Scientific Committee member for the euspen international conference, and is on the Reviewer Board for Journal of Manufacturing and Materials Processing.

Dr. Zhan is a Research Fellow at the Department of Mechanical Engineering in National University of Singapore. He is an expert in ultra-precision machining and solid mechanics, specializing in multiscale modeling and simulation of engineering materials. His research aims to unveil the micromechanical mechanisms involved in material deformation and failure processes using advanced modeling techniques and numerical methods, including Molecular Dynamics, non-local Peridynamic, and Finite Element Analysis. His research mainly focuses on applying multiphysics assistance to achieve the control of material plasticity in machining processes, providing strategies for enhancing ductile cutting of difficult-to-machine materials. His research has resulted in 13 publications in authoritative journals spanning mechanical engineering, materials mechanics, computational science, and other disciplines.
