Research

We devise innovative material processing methods for a wide variety of materials, which opens new engineering problems from the perspectives of micro-cutting theory, material science, applied physics, process workflow, and multi-scale relationships. The three pillars of our research target the further advancement in ultraprecision machining (UPM) technologies, the development of novel post-processing technologies for additive manufacturing (PP4AM), and the integration of neural networks to predict and optimize intelligent manufacturing performance. The embrace of our research philosophy opens the possibility for further applications of precision manufacturing of new material classifications, new products and functionalities, and the proposition of emerging technologies.
