Current Openings:

1. Post-processing for Metal Additive Manufacturing
The student will focus on material removal processing of additively manufactured metals by a type of abrasive finishing process in collaboration with an industry partner. The key areas of study over the PhD journey will include:

    1. Metal additive manufacturing parameter optimization
    2. Abrasive finishing parameter optimization
    3. Developing the theoretical fundamentals governing material removal
    4. Establishing the proof of concept for high-throughput finishing of complex geometries.

2. Artificial Intelligence in Manufacturing
The student will develop the infrastructure for deep learning algorithms to be deployed in precision manufacturing processes, which may vary across ultra-precision micro-machining to additive manufacturing technologies, with the design to detect, categorize and prescribe remediations. The key areas of study of the PhD journey will include:

    1. Machine tool sensory development
    2. Deep learning algorithm deployment and optimization
    3. Manufacturing processing and defect detection
