01/08: Huang Zhiwei and Zhuang Yijie presented respective research work about theoretical analysis of droplet-laden flames and high-speed n-heptane spray combustion modelling in The 27th International Colloquium on the Dynamics of Explosions and Reactive Systems (ICDERS) in Beijing, China. The next ICDERS will be hosted in Napoli, Italy in 2021.

01/08: Zhang Huangwei gave a talk about “modelling blow-off dynamics of gas turbine flames” in the 2nd International Workshop on Near-Limit Flames.

01/08: Zhao Majie visited School of Aerospace, Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering, The University of Sydney.

08/07: Seminar: Experimental Investigations of Non-premixed Ethylene/Air Rotating Detonative Combustion in Hollow Combustors. Professor Wang Yuhui, from the Beijing University of Chemical Technology. Venue: EA-06-02, time: 2-3pm, July 22, 2019.

05/07: The rotating detonation combustion paper by Dr Zhao Majie entitled “Effects of variable total pressures on instability and extinction of rotating detonation combustion” has been accepted for publication in Flow, Turbulence and Combustion.

05/07: Seminar: Sparse-Lagrangian stochastic particle methods for combustion, nanoparticle synthesis and two-phase flows. Professor Matthew Cleary, from the University of Sydney. Venue: EA-06-07, time: 1-2pm, July 19, 2019.

20/06: Dr Zhuang Yijie has been awarded a faculty position in Guangdong University of Technology, China. Congratulations!

10/06: Zhang Huangwei delivered a keynote speech at The 8th International Symposium on Physics of Fluids about “Modelling n-Heptane Dilute Spray Flames Piloted with Hydrogen under Supersonic Combustion Condition”.

10/05: The paper by Yijie entitled “Effects of water droplet evaporation on initiation, propagation and extinction of premixed spherical flames” has been accepted by International Journal of Multiphase Flow.

02/12: Zhuang Yijie visited (academic visitor) the Department of Mechanics and Aerospace Engineering at the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech,南方科技大学) in Shenzhen, China.

01/11: We welcome Dr Huang Zhiwei to join us as post-doctoral research fellow for combustion research.
12/09: Zhang Huangwei gave an invited talk in 2018 International Workshop on Detonation and Propulsion about effects of oscillating total pressure on combustion instability in rotating detonation engines. Zhao Majie presented a poster regarding the effects of chemical mechanisms on numerical simulations of RDEs.
29/07: Zhang Huangwei and Zhao Majie were present for the 37th International Symposium on Combustion in Dublin, Ireland from 29th July – 3 August, 2018. We introduced our research work about the spark ignition of turbulent jet flames and also rotating detonation combustion. The next one, the 38th International Symposium on Combustion, will be held in Adelaide, Australia from 12-17 July, 2020.

14/07: Some of the members in our group were present for the Tsinghua-Princeton-Combustion Institute Summer School on Combustion on July 15-21, 2018. It was organized by Center for Combustion Energy, Tsinghua University.

21/06: Professor N. Swaminathan from Department of Engineering, University of Cambridge visited our research group and gave a seminar about “FlaRe approach for Partially Premixed Combustion”.
06/04: Zhang Huangwei visited Temasek Laboratories @ NUS, and gave a presnetation about “Large eddy simulation / conditional moment closure modelling of a gas turbine model combustor with quick fuel mixing”. link
