Hello History majors!
In addition to NU’s guide in our previous post, I would also like to introduce Purdue University’s writing guide. Purdue’s guide is very comprehensive and gives tips on how to solve issues that you might encounter at every step of the writing process.
In particular, Purdue Unversity has many articles outlining how to write academic papers with proper grammar, tone, sentence variety, and emphasis etc. that will be great for beginner writers/ writers with a weaker grasp of the English language. From the homepage, click on “General Writing” and you will see various sub-headings, including “Grammar” and “Punctuation.”
In addition to these online guides, note that NUS’ Centre for English Language Communication (CELC) offers consultation slots (booking required) where qualified tutors can help to review your work in its early stages. Take note that these consultations are NOT meant for not proof-reading or editing your work, but simply to help you improve your work as a whole and generate ideas.
Hope these resources are helpful, and happy writing!
