You may have recently come across Turabian Citation style while being tasked to write your history essays. What is this style, and how is it different from Chicago citation style?
Named after Kate Turabian from the University of Chicago, Turabian citation style is essentially a simplified version of the Chicago citation style. It follows similar conventions to the Chicago style (i.e Author-date OR Notes and bibliography), but is slightly simpler as it is meant for non-published academic works. More information about the Turabian style, along with the differences between Turabian and Chicago style can be found here.
To use Turabian citation style for common documents like journals, books, and newspaper articles, refer to the Chicago Manual of Style’s guide on Turabian style citations.
For more complex documents like legal papers and interviews, refer to MSU Billing Library’s citation guide.
