In this keynote, we explore the vital yet often overlooked role that personal mental health and wellbeing plays in academia and the quality of teaching. While traditional education focuses on knowledge and skills, the hidden curriculum of mental and emotional health is a key driver of performance and resilience in educators and their students.
This session highlights NUS’s approach to support their staffs’ mental wellbeing. By recognising that self-care and managing emotional health are integral to teaching and learning, participants gain valuable insights into how prioritising their own well-being enhances both personal and academic outcomes.
The keynote emphasises that when individuals take responsibility for their mental health, they unlock their true potential, paving the way for a more balanced, productive, and successful academic journey.
