Research Fellow
Maha obtained her undergraduate degree (B.Tech) in Genetic Engineering from SRM University, Chennai, India. She moved to Singapore in 2017 to complete her final year project (B.Tech) at the Cancer Science Institute of Singapore, NUS where she also continued to work as a research assistant until 2018. She was awarded NUS Research Scholarship in August 2018 to pursue her PhD at the Department of Biological Sciences, NUS under the mentorship of Dr Ruowen Ge. She defended her PhD thesis entitled ‘Investigating the roles and mechanisms of ISM1 in respiratory development and lung fibrosis’ in May 2023. She is currently continuing her Post-doctoral research in Dr. Ruowen Ge’s lab, working on investigating the therapeutic potential of ISM1 in lung fibrosis. She is also the key laboratory safety lead and fire safety warden of our lab. Apart from research, Maha likes reading, traveling, teaching, and stage speaking (Tamil).
