The GEQ1917 Sustainability Project

Over four months, students analyze sustainability issues around them, ideate and implement real solutions to the problems. The project teams are multidisciplinary, consisting of four to five students from different NUS faculties. The projects culminate in Action for Sustainability Symposium, where students present their findings.

Student Reflections of the Sustainability Project:

“The project work trains students to plan and execute a project independently while driving the students to think about sustainability issues in society.”

“Learning was project-based and self-initiated. There was a requirement for us to do research, collect data, surveying sites – these brought learning out of the classroom”.

“Interesting and thought-provoking… it challenges the students to look at the issue differently.”

“Opportunity to explore different sustainability ideas, something that most of us wouldn’t have done in our four years in university.”

“We worked on a project for more than 6months, giving us a sense of ownership of our ideas. It made me more aware of the sustainability issues around the world and the actions we can take to be more sustainable”.
