Congratulations to A/P Hyekyung Choo and Asst Prof Yu Rongjun, who were recently awarded Social Science Research Council Thematic Grants!

Dr Choo’s project, Social Capital and Integration of Low-Income Binational Families in Singapore, investigates how the challenges faced by these families affects social functioning and integration. The research team will be examining how demographic conditions, such as nationality, immigration, and employment status, psycho-socio-economic challenges, such as marital conflict, parenting difficulties, and child adjustment issues, and availability and utilization of social capital, such as social support systems and social services, contribute to social integration of these families at both the individual and familial level. 

Dr Yu’s project, You are what you surf: Characterising preference and decision-making styles with digital footprints, utilizes data analytics to study social media users’ preferences and decision making styles, and how they can be effectively harnessed to formulate inferences about individual and community characteristics.
