The Singapore Research Nexus (SRN) is Hiring!

The Singapore Research Nexus (SRN) is a unique academic resource covering the wide range of research on Singapore produced by the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS). It can be found at http://www.fas.nus.edu.sg/srn/.

SRN is currently engaged in a project to update and maintain a database of creative works such as fiction, poems, plays, musicals, films, travel writings, or other forms of entertaining works of a non-academic nature, along with a database of academic research publications. These works all have relevance to Singapore and have been produced by FASS faculty and students, past and present. SRN is also working on the SG Photobank, a project to build a repository of photographs of Singapore.

We are currently accepting applications from current FASS undergraduate or graduate students for the position of Graduate Student Researcher or Undergraduate Student Researcher. We need a student who possesses excellent English language skills as well as superior research skills to join our team. Our preferred candidate must be meticulous, possess good interpersonal and managerial skills, and be prompt with responses to queries. Knowledge of Singapore’s literary and cultural scene is also an advantage. Additionally, prior experience with WordPress or similar platforms is a definite asset. Successful applicants for this position will be able to source for creative works, academic publications, as well as manage their search for other Singapore-related research, to add to the SRN website database. They will also be able to read and understand academic research articles and creative work, and write about them in a clear, accurate, and engaging way. In addition, successful candidates will assist with cataloguing photographs in the SG Photobank, and may be asked to carry out other duties as assigned for SRN.

The application period is for two weeks from 26 September to 10 October 2016 or until the position is filled. Successful applicants would start work during November 2016 and be appointed for a five month period. Applicants will work up to 16 hours per week. The position may be renewable.
