FASS Student Selected to Represent Singapore at ASEAN-Korea Frontier Forum

FASS Geography student, Jonathan Wang Deguang, recently represented Singapore at the ASEAN-Korea Frontier Forum (5 to 12 August 2010) which was held in Seoul, Korea. The Forum was hosted by the Asia Exchange Association with the purpose of fostering a better understanding of the relationship between ASEAN and the Republic of Korea (ROK).

The 8-day forum is intended to bring the next generation of young leaders of ASEAN and ROK together to discuss the role of youth in strengthening ASEAN-ROK dialogue relations in the field of (i) business, (ii) environment, and (iii) tourism. University students of ASEAN and ROK had the opportunity to exchange constructive views and present their findings . They came up with a set of recommendations that was presented to ASEAN-ROK Senior Officials and other relevant ASEAN sectoral bodies.

Team SingaporeJonathan and two other undergraduate students from NTU were selected by the National Youth Council (NYC) to represent Singapore at this inaugural event. At the end of the forum, the Singapore team presented their paper titled How can Singapore change following Globalization? Cultural Coexistence following Globalization, for which they emerged first amongst the ten teams present!
