Japanese Language Programmes @ Kobe City University of Foreign Studies

Please note that this is an announcement on behalf of Kobe City University of Foreign Studies (KCUFS).

KCUFS will be conducting two Japanese language programmes in year 2012: Intensive Japanese Language Summer Course (Summer Course) 2012 and Japanese Language Programme (JLP) Fall 2012.

The Summer Course 2012 will start on August 6 and end on August 31. JLP Fall 2012 will start on September 14 and end on December 21.

Application Open! Warwick Teaching Program in South Africa for Summer 2012

Call for Application: Summer Camp 2011 organised Kong Chow Wui Koon (岡州會館)

This is an announcement on behalf of International Relations Office

Dates: 15 – 21 June 2011

Location: Guangzhou

Credit Transfer: Non Credit Granting

Cost: $301 (after subsidy from IRO)

Activities: Cultural Immersion classes such as calligraphy, wushu etc

Criteria for applicants:

1)      Proficient in Mandarin*

2)      Singaporeans preferred

3)      Keen interest in Chinese culture

*Please note that the programme will be conducted in Mandarin and thus Mandarin proficiency is a requirement for all applicants.

We’re happy to announce that the APL (Asia Pacific Leaders) Education Programme 2011 is now open for application!  This year the programme will be held at Korea University from 1 to 31 July 2011.

We are offering 2 scholarship positions where tuition fees, housing/accommodation with breakfast and all field trips are paid for. Call for Application: King’s College London Summer School 2011

Dear students

This is a call for applications for the King’s Summer School for 2011. Please see link  for details and note that there is 2 sessions to this School. http://www.kcl.ac.uk/study/summerschool/overview/index.aspx

FASS will be offering 6 students, a financial award each for this summer school of up to $2500 per student for one session. Each student is eligible for only one session award. The criteria will be based on merit and they are as follows:

1.     CAP of at least 3.5 ( Please note that this is only a minimum CAP)

2.     Must be Singaporeans or PRs

3.     Preferably with no other overseas educational experience such as SEP and other summer schools etc

4.     Must be prepared to transfer credits

5.     Must be a full-time enrolled student before embarking on the summer school. If you are graduating this coming July, you are not eligible for this summer school.

If you wish to apply, please download the Application form- King’s Summer 2011 and attached an unofficial transcript with your application form. Please send the documents to Ms Jammie Chan (fasv26@nus.edu.sg) c/o Dean’s Office, FASS no later than 5 pm, 20 April 2011. Incomplete application will not be entertained.

U21 Student Summer School 2011 in Dublin Ireland

Dear Students, 

The International Relations Office (IRO) is pleased to invite you to apply for the 2011 Universitas 21 (U21) Summer School, hosted by University College Dublin, Ireland, from 11 – 19 July 2011. This year’s theme will focus on ‘Conflict Resolution’ and take an interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approach to exploring the issue of conflict resolution across a range of areas: politics, international organizations, war, labour relations, social and ethnic conflict and ethics.

The U21 Summer School is open to full-time 2nd and 3rd year undergraduate students (excluding graduating students) from any school/ faculty/ discipline. Applicants should possess a good command of the English language, are thoughtful and mature in their outlook, and be able to act as effective ambassadors of NUS. Please find more information regarding the Summer School in the attached information sheets from University College Dublin and NUS IRO.

Up to four successful applicants from NUS will participate in the Summer School and receive summer school grants from IRO to help offset the cost of registration fee (which covers accommodation, organized meals and field trips), airfare and visa (if applicable).

Application forms and supporting documents should be submitted electronically to u21@nus.edu.sg by Wednesday 23 March 2011. Interviews for shortlisted candidates will be held during the week of 28-31 March 2011, unless otherwise notified, and final decisions will be made by 1 April 2011.

Call for Application: APRU’s 6th Undergraduate Summer Program (USP): 6-17 July 2011 at Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, China

Dear Students

If you are interested in innovation and entrepreneurship, especially in China, we have an interesting program just for you.

The Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU)’s 6th Undergraduate Summer Program (USP) is on “Developing Entrepreneurial and Innovative Talent in 21st Century”. It will be hosted by Zhejiang University in Hangzhou, China from 6-17 July 2011.

Taking advantage of Zhejiang Province’s strong tradition of entrepreneurial leadership, the two-week program aims to:

• offer students the opportunity to learn first-hand about innovation and entrepreneurship;

• provide students with practical approaches to examining critical issues and global challenges of the 21st Century in the fields of innovation and entrepreneurship;

• provide participants with a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in traditional Chinese culture and gain insights into the rapid economic development of contemporary China;

• provide opportunities for networking, exchanging interdisciplinary perspectives and sharing best practices on innovation and entrepreneurship; and

• strengthen the mutual understanding and friendship among students from different APRU member universities.

Program proceedings will be conducted in English and will include:

• lectures on economic development, business innovation and entrepreneurship;

• site visits to local companies and commodity markets; and

• various Chinese cultural activities.
