Call for Applications: NUS-WHU Winter Programme 2012

Dear students,

The NUS-Wuhan University Winter Programme 2012 is now open for application!

This customized University-wide winter programme, jointly offered by NUS and Wuhan University, is divided into 4 parts and co-taught by professors from both NUS and Wuhan University. Topics that will be discussed includes Chinese cultural traditions, Chinese World Order, Chinese economy, Environmental issues and Legal System in contemporary China. Besides visits to local historical sites and museums, study trips outside Wuhan will also be organized, including field trips to the Dujiangyan Irrigation System, the Earthquake Zone and the Giant Panda Breeding and Research Centre in Sichuan; and excursions to Suzhou to study Chinese gardens and folk culture.

  • Singaporean – SGD 1,470
  • Singapore PR – SGD 2,040

Application Procedure: Complete the application forms available online and attached a copy of your NUS unofficial transcript (screenshots of  exam results will not be accepted) and submit the above documents electronically to go-iro@nus.edu.sg
Eligibility requirements:
  • Students should not be in their graduating semester prior to participating in this programme
  • CAP of 3.5 and above
  • Students must not be a Chinese national
  • Priority will be given to Singaporean nationals and students seeking academic credit

Global Engagement Summit @ Northwestern University

This is an announcement on behalf of the International Relations Office.

Our colleague in the International Program Development/ Global Health Studies, at Northwestern University has asked that we send the following advert to any NUS students who might be interested.   

A Northwestern student organization are hosting a Global Engagement Summit and they are seeking international delegates to come and participate.  Because of the Northwestern_NUS partnership , Northwestern have said they would be able to provide travel stipend’s for NUS students to go to Northwestern for this programme.  

Students would need to apply but if they are accepted, Northwestern have said they would provide funds for them to come.  “Once they are there, almost all their other expenses are covered”.

Calling for applications- Geneva Internship Programs Summer 2012

Dear students,

IRO is calling for applications for Geneva Internship Programs Summer 2012. The internship program will allow you to intern for 3-6 months with one of International Organizations (IOs), Non-governmental Organizations (NGOs), Permanent Missions and Embassies in Geneva. Please refer to attached for more details on the internship and financial support. The Geneva internship will be publicized on IRO website in a next couple of days (http://www.nus.edu.sg/iro/opps/intern/index.html).

 Application deadline is January 2, 2012.

INNOVATE 2012: CHINA – Now open for applications!

INNOVATE 2012: CHINA – Now open for applications!

 NUS students may now apply for INNOVATE 2012: China, which will take place between 2-11 March 2012 in the major Chinese cities of Beijing and Shanghai.

INNOVATE is an international academic conference for undergraduate and graduate students that examines the relationship between technology, globalization, and leadership in the contemporary marketplace. Through company site visits and meetings with key business, academic, and government leaders, INNOVATE will help prepare delegates to become tomorrow’s industry leaders.

 1. Application Process / Deadline

Students from engineering, science, business and other technical disciplines would find the themes and content of the conference particularly engaging and relevant to their academic field. Applicants from other academic disciplines are welcome to apply, and should express a clear link between the theme and focus of INNOVATE and their academic discipline or future career goals.

Applicants should complete and submit the application form to the International Relations Office, together with your CV and Unofficial Transcripts by 5 December 2011 (12pm). You may submit the soft copy of the application form and the required documents to irojt@nus.edu.sg

2. Cost for NUS Delegates

NUS delegates for INNOVATE 2011 will pay a conference fee of USD $1,800 (approx. SGD $ 2,292) which includes 

  • All INNOVATE company site tours & related program events
  • Included cultural tours or special events as indicated in the conference itinerary
  • Double-occupancy accommodation and daily breakfast in China
  • Airport transfers to/from hotel in China (if arriving at same time as U.S. group flight)
  • Daily breakfast, all lunches, and most dinners
  • Ground transportation abroad to all conference sites and events
  • Tips for tour guides & bus drivers

*Please note that the conference fee does not include airfare from Singapore to China and back. Successful applicants may be eligible for financial aid of up to SGD $500 from the NUS International Relations Office.
