Tokyo University of Foreign Studies – TUFS Short Stay Summer Program 2017

Dear Students

Please be informed that TUFS Short Stay Summer Program 2017 – Japanese Language & Cultural Studies will be held from July 18th to August 4th, 2017 in Tokyo University of Foreign Studies. This three-week intensive program is aimed at learners of the Japanese language who are currently enrolled in universities. They offer two courses – Business Japanese and General Japanese. Both courses are designed to be practical ones providing the learners hands-on exposure to everyday Japanese language commonly used in Japanese education, culture, and society.

Asia as the Global Future (12 credits)

The programme will take place in 3 major cities in Asia, Participant will explore the changes in society, culture, economics, politics and international relations in the dynamic Asia region.

Locations: 2 weeks in Hong Kong, 1 week in Bangkok, 1 week in Seoul
 
Global Business in Asia (12 credits)

The programme will take place in 2 major cities in China. Participating students can gain insights of current global business environment in an Asian context.

King’s Summer School now open for applications

Dear Students

This message broadcast is on behalf of King’s College London.

2017 King’s Summer School is now open for applications:

London Undergraduate Summer School: 

  • Session One: 26 June – 14 July 2017  
  • Session Two: 17 July – 4 August 2017 

There will be over 30 modules on offer for summer 2017 which cover academic study in the Culture & the Arts, Business, Health, Law, and the Social Sciences. This year we have also launched a number of new and exciting modules including:

  • International Business;
  • Applied Mathematics;
  • Engineering – creating technologies that help people;
  • Understanding Common Law;
  • Women’s and Child Health

All modules are fully assessed and consist of a minimum of 45 contact hours. Students will receive a final mark on their Participant Record of Achievement (transcript). Each module is equivalent to 3-4 US credits or 7.5 ECTS.

India Summer School: 29 May – 9 June 2017  

In addition to our London Summer School, we are also delighted to announce the launch of our India Summer Schools which this year will take place in Delhi, between 29 May – 9 June 2017. Fees and financial ;

We continually strive to enhance our programme for the benefit of both students and partner universities. This year we are delighted to announce that we have reduced our tuition fee for partners to £1350 per module, and reduced our application fee to £40 per application. This makes the King’s Summer School one of the most competitively priced summer schools of any Russell Group university in London.

The accommodation fee (if required) is £1200 per module. This includes a daily campus meal allowance

This year we are also pleased to announce that all modules trips and excursions taken as part of the course will now be included within the module fee. This is a result of student feedback which we listen to each year and hope will help students financially with their planning and budgeting. Again striving to deliver the best value for money as possible.

2017 Summer Programme at Pembroke College, Cambridge

Summer research programme 2017 at the University of Alberta

Dear FASS year 2/ 3/ 4 students, here’s a message to you on behalf of the NUS International Relations Office (IRO):

IRO has a summer research opportunity with the University of Alberta in Canada. Some information as below:

  • There are over 50 projects available, a number of which are suitable for FASS students (e.g. political science, geography, sociology, psychology, etc.)
  • Each research project is for 12 weeks (May to August 2017)
  • Students selected for this programme will receive a stipend of CAD 6,000 (approx. SGD 6,300)

Kwansei Gakuin University Intensive Japanese Language and Culture Study Program 2017

Dear Students

In 2017, the Winter program will be held from February 8 to 25, and the Summer program from July 19 to August 5.

Students benefit from studying with KGU faculty and staff in the beautiful campus, and a chance to stay with a host family to learn more about the local culture. Every year, more than a hundred students from KGU’s partner institutions all over the world take part in the program, and enjoy learning the Japanese language while taking part in various hands-on cultural experiences such as calligraphy, flower arrangement, sumo wrestling, Japanese archery, and more!

13th Sino-Singapore Undergraduate Exchange Programme 2016

What is this programme about?

The prestigious Sino-Singapore Undergraduate Exchange (SSUE) Programme is spearheaded by the respective Ministries of Education (MOE) of Singapore and China. It is the only G-G (Government-to-Government) Tertiary Exchange Programme between Singapore and China. It was the brainchild of Singapore’s then Prime Minister Mr Goh Chok Tong, who proposed this programme to the People’s Republic of China (PRC) then Vice-President Mr Hu Jintao in April 2002 when the latter visited Singapore. The programme was formally established on 29 May 2002.

The SSUE programme aims to instil Singaporean students with a global perspective and understanding of China and its potential and to expose Chinese students to aspects of Singapore life, education and culture. The main objective and focus of this programme is to create opportunities for networking and interaction between the Chinese and Singaporean participants. On a higher level, the programme helps to strengthen bilateral ties between Singapore and China.  Many student participants become exemplary ambassadors of NUS and Singapore during the programme.

When does it take place?

The programme consists of two parts:

·         A 15-day China programme (hosted by the PRC MOE and the participating Chinese universities) from 22 May to 5 June 2016

·         A 15-day Singapore programme (hosted by the Singapore MOE and the participating Singapore universities; NUS will usually host the delegates for 2 days) from 17 to 31 July 2016

·         Singapore leg: On NUS campus and around Singapore

·         China leg: In Chengdu (Sichuan Province) & Guiyang (Guizhou Province)

·         In-country travel

·         Accommodation

·         Excursions

·         Majority of meals

 

How much does it cost?

·         Programme fee for each student will usually be capped at S$600 (excluding a S$100 deposit, payable upon acceptance into the programme)

·         Additional changes to flights or duration of stay: Up to S$500 (estimated; however, this can vary significantly)

·         Personal Expenses: S$20 per day (estimated; however, this can vary significantly based on personal spending habits)

 

Are NUS study and travel grants available?

No, as this programme is heavily subsidised through the funds from the Sino-Singapore Undergraduate Exchange Programme.
What are the eligibility requirements?

·         Singapore citizen or permanent residents (non-PRC-nationals);

·         Aged 25 and below;

·         Preferably Year 2 or Year 3 undergraduate at the time of application;

·         Minimum CAP score of 3.0;

·         Articulate, confident, open-minded and eager to learn and share knowledge;

·         Pleasant personality and a team player;

·         Demonstrates interest in China and its culture;

·         Must FULLY COMMIT to all aspects of the programme; and

·         Preferably hold a special talent(s) or skill(s), such as singing, playing musical instruments, drama, photography, IT and designing skills

Note: Non-Chinese and non-Mandarin speaking students are welcome to apply. However, do take note that most of the talks, seminars and dialogue sessions held during the China leg of the programme will be conducted in Mandarin.
Is a visa required?

Only students who are extending their stay beyond the programme..
