Call for Applications – 2012 ASEAN Student Forum: Molding the ASEAN Mind

Dear Students,

The NUS International Relations Office (IRO) is pleased to invite you to apply for “2012 ASEAN Student Forum: Molding the ASEAN Mind”, an international forum which will be hosted by Chulalongkorn University, Thailand, from 12 to 16 November 2012.

Objectives

This forum will be held as part of “Chulalongkorn University Academic Expo 2012”, a tri-annual event, which highlights on the kingdom’s pillar of the knowledge to follow the royal path of His Majesty the King and the upcoming ASEAN Economic Community (AEC). The forum aims to develop people-to-people minds among ASEAN citizen, to create a bond in ASEAN Community and to create a platform for undergraduate university students from all ASEAN countries to network and exchange their ideas with the ultimate goal to achieve a stronger ASEAN mind.

Criteria

  • Undergraduate students
  • Good academic results (equivalent to GPAX score of 2.5 or higher)
  • Good English communication skill (forum will be conducted in English)
  • Have basic knowledge about ASEAN
  • Possess leadership skill and/or proved to be an initiator 

Registration fee

Successful applicants who are selected to enroll ASF have to pay the participation fee of  US$100. This fee covers the cost of accommodation, sightseeing, seminar, activities and parties. Students may apply for a scholarship from the organizers

Application

Kindly complete and submit to the Organizing Committee (co.conchulavi55@gmail.com) the following documents:

1)      Forum Application Form (Sections I to III) in the ASF Delegate Application Package attached

2)      400-600 word essay about yourself (personal statement) as mentioned in application package

3)      (Optional) Scholarship Application Form, attached, with recommendation letter

 Deadline for Application

  • 26 September 2012 – for students that are applying for scholarship
  • 5 October 2012 – for students not applying for scholarship

Sponsorship

NUS International Relations Office  is pleased to provide a travel grant to offset the cost of economy class airfare to Bangkok. In the event that accepted students applied for and were not awarded the scholarship from the organizers, IRO will also sponsor the registration fee.

Accepted students can contact Ms Leong Wai Yee (irolwy@nus.edu.sg) of NUS IRO via email, attaching supporting documents/emails such as the confirmation of acceptance and result of the scholarship application from the organizers, to apply for the travel grant from IRO. Please note that this travel grant is administered separately by NUS IRO and up to 5 accepted participants will be awarded the travel grant on a first-come-first-served basis.
