Dear students,

UNIVERSITY OF ULM – 15TH INTERNATIONAL SUMMER PROGRAM

 NUS students may now apply for the 15th International Summer Program offered by the University of Ulm. The Program, which runs from 1 June to 27 July 2011, offers students the opportunity to learn the German language and take on practical training in Physics at the University of Ulm.

 Tuition fee waiver is offered to NUS students selected to participate in the Program. Students will have to pay 980 Euro (approx. SGD $1,750) for accommodation, course materials / handouts, bus pass for public transport, etc. The amount does not include airfare to and from Germany, meals and other personal expenses (about SGD $2,500 to $3,000).

 1. Application Process / Deadline

Students should complete and submit the application form to their faculty student exchange coordinators by 12pm on 21 February 2011. A copy of the form can be downloaded from the IRO website at: http://www.nus.edu.sg/iro/nus/students/prog/summer/ulm/index.html

 2. Course Outline

Students embarking on the Ulm Summer Program will participate in the following courses of study:

 (1)  German Intensive Language (150 hrs) – Students will learn and practice the German language, as well as gain an appreciation for German culture through activities outside of the classroom.

 (2)  Practical Training in Physics (48 hrs) – This course offers students the opportunity to gain practical training in conducting laboratory experiments. Students with adequate background knowledge may join ongoing research projects in the Physics department at Ulm. Students are advised that basic knowledge of undergraduate mathematics and physics will be required for this course.
