The 1st International Workshop on Extreme Combustion, organized by Professor Zheng Chen from Peking University, will be held on May 17-18, 2025 at the University Town of the National University of Singapore (NUS), before the .
Scope
In pursuit of low pollution and near-zero carbon emissions, cutting-edge combustion technologies are advancing towards extreme conditions characterized by high temperature, high pressure, high speed, near flammability limits, and supercritical states. The intricate physical and chemical mechanisms associated with combustion under these extreme conditions have emerged as a pivotal area of research within the international combustion community. Therefore, enhancing our fundamental understanding of extreme combustion is essential for the synergistic optimization of engine and fuel design. The workshop aims to foster discussion on the latest advancements and challenges, as well as to promote future collaborative endeavors in theoretical, computational, and experimental investigations of extreme combustion across diverse fields.
Topics and Sessions
At each workshop, a few topics will be selected and we will discuss and identify what are the important applications and technical issues, what we know, and what we do not know. Each topic will include invited lectures (25~30 minutes, to give a overview of the field and potential applications as well as recent progresses and challenges) and volunteering talks (15 minutes, to highlight interesting findings and results given by volunteering speakers). Poster presentations are also welcomed. Volunteering speakers need to contact the corresponding Topic Coordinators by email to arrange his/her talks or posters by April 15th, 2025. A parallel discussion session will also be organized to discuss what need to be done and how to collaborate. The 2025 workshop topics/sessions and coordinators are:
