Speech: Research Progress on the Oriented Conversion of Biomass to High-quality Liquid Fuels and Carbon Materials

Prof. Huiyan Zhang, the Chief Professor of Southeast University, focuses on the preparation of high-quality liquid fuels, carbon materials, syngas and chemicals from thermal conversion of biomass/organic solid waste. He has presided over 20 projects including the National Key Research and Development Program of China, National Natural Science Foundation for Distinguished Youth scholars of China, etc. Zhang has published more than 200 SCI papers in Science, PNAS, etc. with more than 12,000 citations, and has won the Most Cited Researchers of Elsevier in the last 5 years. His remarkable scientific achievements have been featured in Nature and compiled by the Chinese Academy of Sciences into the “Representative Selected Work of Chinese Scientists” in the Science and Technology Progress Report of China. Zhang has been awarded the First Prize of Technical Invention of the Ministry of Education (2022), China Patent Excellence Award (2022), Special Gold Medal of International Invention Exhibition in Geneva (2017).
