Director’s Message

Welcome to the inaugural edition of CELC’s A Year in Review.

In this A Year in Review AY2022/2023, we highlight some of the Centre’s key milestones, key collaborations with various stakeholders within and beyond the university, major events, and colleagues’ contributions to scholarly activities. What a productive and eventful year it was!

At the National University of Singapore, the Centre plays a vital role in enhancing the English language and communication skills of local and international undergraduate and graduate students. The range of formal courses we offer includes basic academic literacy, writing and critical thinking, business and professional communication, and interdisciplinary courses. For many of these courses, we consult and collaborate closely with colleagues at respective faculties.

Because of this broad range of courses, there are opportunities for colleagues to expand their repertoire, as well as to explore and deepen their engagement in specific genres. A Year in Review AY2022/2023 shares our colleagues’ involvement and accomplishments in three major areas – (a) teaching and course development, (b) publications, presentations, and projects, and (c) service to community.

I wish you an enjoyable read.
