• Descriptive essays

These can be descriptions of processes, experiments, experiences, situations, events, objects and places to help the reader create the scene in their mind. They could also include reflections.

• Expository essays

Expository essays explain and illustrate an idea. These can be accomplished through comparison and contrast, analysing cause and effect as well as providing definitions and examples.

• Narrative essays

These can be in the form of stories that draw on personal experience. This style of writing can also extend to book reports with the aim of drawing the reader into the content.
