Leader: Applying the Concept of Leadership to the Context of a Workplace

<Only the timing from 5:50 to 9:15 is sufficient!> Just as I was rummaging through some online resources while taking a short break from writing, I came across this, which I thought was quite an apt addition into the subject matter on leadership, though it may seem more relevant for social enterprise.

After I watched this, I think leadership is also about having that emotional capital to take the lead, and to inspire others to eventually take the lead. More importantly, together, everyone has the ability to make a difference to the community around them, the organisation they hope to build, and the society they hope to transform.

Before this reading seems to be going in the direction of social entrepreneurship, I think extending the same concept of leadership to a workplace could make a difference to an organisation. Servant leadership in the workplace entails the creation of a nurturing work environment that can foster and encourage continuous learning. This creates a mentally stimulating work environment that can foster creative experimentation and build a friendly work culture. As leaders of the future workplace, I think I can lead with the purpose of grooming and teaching the followers under me, it will help foster interdisciplinary collaboration and a culture of curious, critical, and engaged workers. At the end of the day, as a leader, we also benefit from having a more effective workforce.
