The Institute for the Application of Learning Science and Educational Technology (ALSET) is pleased to announce the release of its first-ever Annual Report!
Founded with a mission to support research and innovation in education at NUS, ALSET achieved many milestones in the past year. Highlights include:
- Established the ALSET Educational Data Lake, an exciting new resource for education researches that compiles detailed data on student backgrounds, behaviors, and outcomes.
- Created a vibrant Research Office to advance our goal of becoming a hub for learning science and education technology research in Asia.
- Recruited a diverse group of researchers to join the institute, making us one of the most interdisciplinary institutes of its kind.
- Developed classes on learning science for students and adult learners, including Learning to Learn Better (LTLB), an undergraduate course that examines recent research from the field and provides practical tips for being an effective learner.

Founded in 2016, ALSET’s mission is improve education through the application of learning science and education technology. The Institute conducts original research on learning science, technology, and pedagogy; promotes novel and entrepreneurial projects that improve learning outcomes; and works to ensure that the latest research and learning technologies have broad impact, both at NUS and also in the broader education community.
