About

Inspired by Oxbridge’s The Mays, The Harbour is a new anthology of literature and art for all Singaporeans and PRs at the university level. Based at the National University of Singapore (NUS), the anthology is interested in invigorating the Singapore arts scene with new opportunities for creative works to flourish and be recognised.

The Harbour accepts submissions of prose, poetry, essays, as well as visual art submissions and photography. It is planned to be an annual publication, with submissions opening on 22nd May 2021. Like what The Mays does for Britain, we envision The Harbour as becoming its equivalent for Singapore—a premiere student-run anthology run on a national scale, providing for prospective artists a direct way to gain recognition within the industry.

The name The Harbour was chosen to represent our anthology in its poignant reflection of our historical and present-day identity – as a trading hub, in our proximity to the sea – and most significantly, our vision for this publication to function as a vessel for budding literary talents.

Of course, this anthology will not be limited to just English Literature or art majors – we want all hands on deck! It would be interesting to see how a multitude of Singaporean (unheard) voices connect and diverge all at once.

We are currently accepting submissions for The Harbour’s inaugural 2021 anthology. The ongoing submissions period is from 22nd May 2021 to 24th July 2021. Please send all submissions to nustheharbour@gmail.com and refer to Submissions for more details.
