The James Dyson Award is an international award which exists to inspire the next generation of design engineers by celebrating their work and their successes and elevating them on a global platform. The brief Put simply, design a product that solves a problem. The James Dyson Award will be presented to the student whose work best demonstrates the ability to think differently and create a much needed product that works better. We will be looking for:
Entry eligibility This award is open to any student (or graduate within 3 years of graduation) of design who studied in the countries running the James Dyson Award 2009. Entry will be in the form of a product concept or idea. The product can come from a class assessment or be designed in the entrant’s own time. It may be developed by a team or individual. The design submitted can be from any product group, but must reflect the award criteria and brief. For judging purposes, the entry will be assigned to the country that the student studied in, rather than the student’s nationality. Judging process
iv. The prize The James Dyson Award winner will receive: Ø A James Dyson Award trophy Ø £10,000 cash to student/team Ø £10,000 cash prize to student’s university design engineering department. Ø Inclusion in the James Dyson Foundation’s/Dyson’s publicity campaign including, but not limited to, placement on the James Dyson Award website. There will be a number of highly commended entries, selected at the discretion of James Dyson, who will also be presented with a trophy. The People’s Choice vote winner in each country will receive a People’s Choice trophy to recognise their achievement. v. Entry submission requirements Entry to the James Dyson Award will take the form of a profile uploaded to the James Dyson Award website. We would like to see sketches, and images of models and prototypes demonstrating the research and development process (including testing and design for manufacture). Each submission should include:
