SINGAPORE, Sept 14 (Campus Eye) – Former Speaker of Parliament Halimah Yacob was declared president-elect of Singapore.

Halimah Yacob was the only presidential applicant who received the Certificate of Eligibility from the Presidential Elections Committee (PEC) on September 11 and became the President of Singapore.

Halimah and her team arrived at the designated nomination center, the People’s Association Headquarters, at approximately 11am.

Hundreds of supporters had gathered outside the nomination center as early as 9am to await Halimah’s arrival.
