10 things about the 2017 Presidential Election

SINGAPORE, Sept 12 (Campus Eye) – Former Speaker of Parliament Halimah Yacob was the only presidential hopeful who was issued the Certificate of Eligibility by the Presidential Elections Committee (PEC) yesterday.

Presidential hopefuls chairman and chief executive officer of Second Chance Properties Mohamed Salleh Marican as well as chairman of Bourbon Offshore Asia Farid Khan Kaim Khan did not meet the $500 million shareholders’ equity requirement set for private sector applicants.

The two applicants received the Malay Community Certificate but were not issued the Certificate of Eligibility.

This means that no election will be held given that there are no other contenders.
