The details are quite fuzzy! Some say the escapees formed a herd with the remaining few left in the wild, while other sources say all of them are escapees. But we do know that Sambars used to exist in Singapore and were classified as extinct. I wish I had more resources!

I wouldn't know what an actual dinosaur sounds like- Lol!- but after watching all three Jurassic Park movies over and over again, the chattering really did sound like a Velociraptor to me. But then again, it could have been my overactive imagination.. Or my secret desire to have dinosaurs back on Earth again. =)

Ah sacrificial of a mother...

Perhaps the parental care can indeed give more reproductive success that most of the higher animals choose to rear their offspring!

Damselfish, which the nemo belongs to, is territorial. If you see fish ferociously "attacking" your mask when you are diving or snorkelling, it is almost certain that they are damselfish.

Nemo has a rather "frowning" face, especially when you swim near them!

Monogamy...

Perhaps this is a cost-efficient way of living in the deep sea, the food are scarce, and the environment is vast for one to find another!

It does look cute!

Salamander is one of the amphibians that caught least attention, with almost all of them being endangered. As for the limb regeneration, sea star could survive and regenerate after being cut into half, i.e. 2 individual sea stars! But then sea star is invertebrate.

Actually it's applicable to most of the animals, once they get into captive condition, it is very hard for them to go back to the wild. And yes, love and care the animals!

This reminds me of the "pestilence" event in the extinction game. :)

Some also hypothesized that the human overpopulation opens up more and more forests, which indirectly introducing diseases such as SARS to us. It's interesting how some animals such as lemmings realize the impact of overpopulation, and chose to suicide for the greater goods!

Seems like a case of stressed chimps! Chimps being one of our closest relatives, have been shown to display a whole range of emotions that we humans feel. Just check out your coursemates' blog post at
http://blog.nus.edu.sg/lsm1303/2009/04/14/we-all-need-a-little-bit-of-loving/
But this really brings the chimps' mind complexity to a whole new level! Just curious, did the zookeepers try to determine what exactly caused the agitation?
