Annual Teaching Excellence Award 2014 and FASS Special Teaching Award Winners

We are very pleased to extend our warmest congratulations to the following faculty members on their achievements. A total of 6 faculty members have won the Annual Teaching Excellence Award 2014 (for teaching done in 2013/14). Of these, two have further distinguished themselves by being placed on the ATEA Honour Roll for having won the ATEA a total of three times. The awardees were nominated by the FASS Faculty Teaching Excellence Committee (FTEC) and selected by the University Teaching Excellence Committee (UTEC). The Annual Teaching Excellence Award (ATEA) 2014 winners are:

In addition to the ATEA 2014 winners, the Faculty also recognises six faculty members who have won the ‘FASS Special Teaching Awards’ at the recently concluded FASS awards ceremony/dinner. The winners are:

  • A/P Timothy Barnard (History) who wins the Educational Leadership Award which acknowledges colleagues who have made a difference in curricula and programme development.
  • Ms Sasiwimol Klayklueng (Centre for Language Studies) who wins the Pedagogy Award which acknowledges colleagues with excellent research on teaching and learning pedagogies.
  • A/P Lim Sun Sun (Communications and New Media) who wins the Innovation Award which recognises innovative use of technologies in teaching and engaging students.
  • Dr Suriani Suratman (Malay Studies) who wins the Versatility Award, which recognises colleagues who teach an admirable range of modules across levels, student numbers and genres.
  • Dr Zhang Yang (Economics) and Dr Gilbert Yeoh (English Language and Literature) who both win the Students’ Choice Award which recognises excellence in student feedback (both qualitative and quantitative).

Teaching excellence is something we are deeply committed to at FASS, and our faculty members are testimonies to this. Congratulations and all the very best!
