Studying in Europe’s Oldest Cities

“It was a great privilege to study in one of Europe’s oldest cities. What I find most fascinating about Edinburgh is that it looks almost the same as it was in the 1800s. Walking on cobblestones, living at the foot of the Edinburgh castle, and wandering into lecture halls where chairs were placed on a steep gradient to facilitate live surgical demonstrations. Being a history major made the experience even more haunting. Under the multi-disciplinary NUS-Edinburgh joint PhD program, I had the opportunity to study not just history but also anthropology and STS (Science, Technology and Society). The journey was broadening, and humbling.”
