Announcement of 2 New Student Exchange Partners

Dear students

I am pleased to announce the recent addtion of 2 faculty-level students exchange agreements for undergraduates: one with the College of Foreign Language and Literature at Fudan University.

The second is Institute of Political Studies Bordeaux, France or Sciences Po Bordeaux as it is more commonly known.

Exchanges to these destinations will be available for AY2013/14. The next round of SEP application will be in September 2012. Please look out in your email for the application announcement.

Greetings from Kobe City University of Foreign Studies. With the cherry blossoms in full bloom our academic year has started. I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself as a newly appointed director of KCUFS International Office and inform you about our Intensive Japanese Language Summer Course (Summer Course) that is offered in August for four weeks.

This intensive course gives students opportunities to come in touch with the Japanese culture and the Japanese language in actual communication, and encourages them to improve their motivation for further study. We are now recruiting international students for the Summer Course 2012 until April 27, 2012.

University of Notre Dame London Summer Programme 2012

Dear students

This is just an information announcement for the University of Notre Dame London Summer Programme 2012.

The Faculty is looking to nominate 2 students for this summer school. There is no financial assistance or fee waiver for this summer school except maybe possibly getting a travel grant from IRO or you can apply under FASS Financial Aid.

Points to Note:

  1. You must plan to arrive in London on May 17, 2012 and depart on 28 June 2012.
  2. Your must completed at least one year of university study prior to participation.
  3. The programme fee is  USD $ 5825 which covers tuition (two courses), accommodation, housing, insurance air travel, and admin fee.
  4. The airfare return Singapore and London is a separate cost that you need to fund.  

 Selection Criteria:

1. A CAP of 3.0 and above;

2. Must not be in your final semester of studies before embarking on the summer programme.

If you are interested to be nominated, please then send an email to studyabroadfass@nus.edu.sg c/o Ms Amy Tan by 4.00 pm, 17 April, Tuesday with a small paragraph (no more than 300 words) on why you want to go for this summer school and a copy of your latest CAP score.

Information session by Sciences Po Bordeaux on 23 April 2012 (Monday), 11.30am-12.30pm

Dear students

Good news! FASS is about to conclude an undergraduate student exchange agreement with Sciences Po Bordeaux and Mr Ludovic Renard who is the director of their International Relations Office will be at FASS on 23 April and he will be more than happy to meet with students who may be interested to head to Sciences Po Bordeaux perhaps in Spring or Fall of 2013.

I have also included a current list of courses that are offered in English at Sciences Po Bordeaux. Their Master level courses are also offered in English and may be available to undergraduate students. And of course their classes are also offered in French and students can also enrolled in French language courses.

The venue is AS7 Level 1 Auditorium and the time is 11.30 am to 12.30 pm. There will be snacks and refreshment served after the information session.

Summer of 2012

Dear students

Ahhh…. the summer of 2012; it was a magical time. I recall with the fondest of memories.

It is not too late, seeing that it is only April, there is still time to make your 2012 summer a fruitful one. The Study Abroad @ FASS has helped to identify a list of about 66 summer schools that could be part of your beautiful memories of this summer. We encourage students to head for these summer schools and then write to tell us about it.

Call for application: Ulm University Summer Research Internships

This is an announcement on behalf of the IRO. Please contact IRO directly if any query.

Ulm University (Ulm, Germany) is offering research attachment opportunities to replace the summer program that is no longer available this year.

Program: Summer Research Attachment Duration: 2- 3 months between June and August

Eligibility: students who have completed at least 2.5 years in a related field of studies

Funding: IRO Study and Travel Grant (amount to be determined) Ulm funding might be possible but not guaranteed.

Research areas: (please refer to attachment for a list of available projects)
