Dear Prof,
The terminals in OS Lab are still not working for me – it seems that comp.nus.edu.sg is completely down. Still cant wget or use firefox in the lab. Also can’t download the files to transfer via USB. Is it absolutely necessary to do it in the terminals in the OS lab?
Warmest Regards,
Jon

There is another network outage in SoC until about 5:00pm. Did anyone tested after 5pm?
Email from our network team:
“We regret to inform that there was another network outage this afternoon. The disruption started at 2:45pm in the “COM1 Zone” (includes most of SoC areas, except COM2 building), and the core network was stabilized at 3:45pm. However, a small number of edge switches in COM1 continued to experience problems until about 5pm.”

Am I supposed to be getting this?
4066 pts/0 00:00:00 gdb
4068 pts/0 00:00:00 a.out
4122 ? 00:00:02 evince
4131 pts/2 00:00:00 man
4142 pts/2 00:00:00 less
4153 pts/3 00:00:00 bash
4167 pts/3 00:00:00 ps
[user100@os105 ~]$ /proc/4068/maps
bash: /proc/4068/maps: Permission denied
If so, I’m unsure what to do about it. I’m in the OS lab.
Thanks,
Caitlyn

@Caitlyn,
The maps files are text files, so you need to view it instead of executing it.
Copy it to your current directory and open it with your favorite text editor/viewer.
