The organisers of this Hackathon aim to reduce the impact of misinformation by making it easy for users to quickly verify or check if a rumour or piece of information they received is real. For instance, this can take the form of a website where users can submit a query and quickly check if the rumour/information is real. The website could also enable crowd-sourcing of fact checking as a way to enable scale. Initially, fact checkers will come from students from various tertiary institutions and a pool of trained volunteers.
First, an online platform for these fact checkers needs to be created.
For this Hackathon, we’re looking for creative implementations addressing the issues above. If you have any enquiries, please reach out to Francesca Nathan at firstname.lastname@example.org.
