Animal Protectors Grant

Published by NUS PEACE under Happenings

4th September 2008 – Official launch of Singapore’s first ever Animal Protectors Grant A result of the Singapore Animal Welfare Symposium 2008 (http://www.asiaone.com/News/Education/Story/A1Story20080604-68899.html) is the Animal Protectors Grant! This grant is managed by the same team that brought you the symposium – NUS Animal Welfare, SMU PAW, NTUALS and ACRES. We called a press conference on 4th September, which was held in SMU. Straits Times, Today, Channel NewsAsia etc. attended. We were featured that same night on the news.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uUXihVBfnPI It was an extremely successful launch with 8 grants awarded worth a total of $8,822, thanks to the kind sponsorship of the Lee Foundation. We had a total of 14 applications. Projects range from stray sterilization to documentary productions to publishing of story books for kids! The best part is that a majority of applicants were youth which certainly bodes well for the future of animals in Singapore. It was certainly heartwarming to see their enthusiasm and passion for the cause which definitely energized the “oldies”. All projects will be presented at the Animal Welfare Symposium 2009, so see you there!
